On Wednesday, Karnataka climbed to the top of India’s COVID-19 list with 5,92,182 active cases. This number is a clear indicator of the burden which is currently on the healthcare system that includes patients in hospitals, COVID Care Centres and also in home isolation.

Also, on Wednesday night, the Karnataka government has decided to suspend vaccination drives for the age group of 18-44 years at government facilities from 14th May till further notice. This decision came following the severe shortage of vaccines and supply constraints. However, private hospitals will continue to administer the COVID-19 vaccine doses for all age groups.
